About Us
Churches United In Caring was established in 1983 by area ministers in response to an abundance of need from families who moved under the San Jacinto River Bridge into what was known as "Tent City". Churches in the area did not have the means or resources to individually, provide for the people, so pastors from the surrounding community formed Churches United In Caring (CUIC), staffed by volunteers, to meet the need.
From that day, there was a central point where churches
could send their support and those in need. Today many area
churches and individuals still send monetary donations to
CUIC, but the majority of funds come from community
donations that are sold in the Thrift Store. All proceeds go
to purchase items for the food pantry and to maintain
the facilities.
